from My Fair Lady "A Quake in the Place Where I Live"
I have often walked down this street before
But the pavement never swallowed up my feet before -
All at once am I unprepared to die
From this quake in the place that I live!
Are there gaping cracks in the heart of town?
Are the buildings falling down in every part of town?
Watch the people pour out of every door
It's a quake in the place that I live!
And oh, the terrible shaking - will this last one minute or four?
The overpowering shaking - I'm so glad that I'm not on the eighteenth floor!
Now those ones and twos, they don't bother me,
Holy crap, this one must be at least a 9.3!
"Oh dear God," I cry - "Please don't let me die"
In this quake in the place where I live!
